On our second day in Indy, we decided to drive up to South Bend to visit our oldest family friend. We've known her family for eons - eons, I say. Our moms were pregnant at the same time with me and her older sister. And we've stayed friends for over 34 years - through toddler and crazy teenage years, trips in a VW bus across the country, weddings, kids, tragedies, and moves all over the place. MA and her super smart p.H.D. hubby and their two adorable kids live in South Bend now. MA's hubby is finishing up his graduate work at Notre Dame.
So, BACK into the car we went. The 140 mile drive took us almost 4 hours, as we drove on a highway through every small Indiana town (it seemed) with a fussy 10 week old who appears to hate his car seat.
We enjoyed an afternoon of reminiscing and telling labor stories - which at times got so loud that we woke their kids from their nap. After the stories slowed down, we piled back into the cars for a tour of the university. It's pretty impressive! It's gorgeous and the weather was perfect on Wednesday.
We finally had to say our goodbyes and head back to Indy. We drove through Chick-Fil-A since the little one was asleep, and we make it about an hour and a half before he woke up and got fussy. One quick stop for sanity sake, and then we were back home. Exhausted, but so glad we got to visit with MA and her family.

Wow I love the picture of the old building. It looks so historic. You don't see enough of that anymore.
These are all really good pictures. It's so nice to see what you and your family are up to!! Love those Lil' Major pix!!!
I'm glad you're having a great time. Say Hi to your Mom and Dad for me!
Chik-fil-a....YUMMY!! Just told Kev last night I was craving some!!
Is she a relative of someone who visited in Cali...like a certain someone who drove us to the airport to pick up the car???
They look sooo much alike. :)
That is the best line from Sweet Home Alabama, I had a baseball friend tease me once when I was pregant, and in a bar (non-smoking bar), saying "You have a baby in a bar!!" I laughed out loud!!!
Good for you for travleling when your son is so little, I know exactly what your going through!!!
Hudson hated his car seat around that age too...it was miserable. And we weren't trying to drive for hours and hours at that point. We finally realized that he likes to look out the window...so we stopped putting up the shade canopy thing. He doesn't mind the sun...he just wants to see what's going on!
Hope the rest of your trip is going well!
