New York New York!

I'm going to NYC in 17 days!!! I can't wait! One of my college friends is getting married in NJ, and I am going to the wedding!

My best friend from college is going to meet me there with her hubby, and we're going to have a blast. We have tickets to The Lion King on Broadway, and we're bound and determined to see Central Park, shop on 5th Avenue and roam around Times Square. I would also like to stop in at Serendipity for a snack, but we'll see how that goes.

It's a quick trip. I leave Friday, we see the show Saturday, the wedding is Sunday and we all go home on Monday. Whew! It will go quickly, especially since the quickest route to the city from our hotel in NJ (that I can find) is 2 1/2 hours by bus and train (we will NOT be driving into the city!). That means that we'll probably spend ALL DAY Saturday in the City, and it's questionable if we'll have time to get back for quick trips on Sunday or Monday.

So, anyone out there who has visited NYC? Got any great public transportation advice for me? Or any must-see sights?

Aim - I think I would have been ok to not see a Broadway show, but Darey really wants to, and I think it will be a blast and a great memory...and out of everything showing, Lion King seems like the best choice...I'll let you know what I think.

Terri - I think we might skip ground zero. We have such little time, and I think I want to stick to the happy memories of NYC...it will definitely be weird to see the skyline w/o the Twin Towers since the last time I was there, they were standing.

Shell - Yes, I'm going w/ Darey Queen...she'll be 6 months preggers! =) So, who knows how much walking we'll really do. I went to NYC when I was in high school, so it's been a while. This will also be my scoping out trip, because all my "Buddies" are planning on going together in a couple years, for our annual trip.

okay . . two thoughts . . i really think you SHOULD go see ground zero - it's incredible. sad, yes. but a must. also, you need to get your sister something fun from serendipity since that is one of her all-time favorite movies! :) oh yeah, and what's this junk about only going to a brodway show b/c D wants you to?!?! ARE YOU EVEN MY SISTER??!!

Ok, let me clarify...I LOVE musicals, you know that...but, I have very limited time in NYC, and I'm struggling w/ spending so many hours watching a play (even if it is Broadway) when I could be shopping or seeing something like Central Park or Ground Zero, or whatever.

Have YOU seen Ground Zero? You've been to NYC since then??

I am jealous- again!!! :-) I would LOVE to see a broadway show- especially a Musical. If you had your choice to see any musical ever (on stage production) which would you choose?? I would have a hard time choosing between "Guys and Dolls" or "Phantom of the Opera".

Hmm, I don't know. It wouldn't be Phantom...that show bores me. Maybe 7 Brides for 7 Brothers...it has lots of fun dancing in it.

B and I are going to see High School Musical at the local theatre next week...I had to bribe him, but we're going. I'm looking forward to it.

haha! you're going to see HS musical!?! all of the HS girls are crazy about that movie. i'm so tired of hearing about it! i've never seen it though.

and, YES, i've been to NYC since then. amy and i went in 2002 when i flew to jersey to see her - we went in for the day.

why doesn't this thing let you know when somebody has left a comment for you? or responded to your comment on their page? that sucks.

oh, and, whatever you do, DON'T use cabs - they'll rip you off. use the subways - they're super easy and fast and WAY cheaper than a cab! Also, cabanas is living up there in the city, you should hunt him down.

You can set it up to email you when someone leaves a comment on your blog...c'mon computer chick, you can figure it out. Just go back and check on other people's...it's kinda fun.

He is?? Do you know how to get a hold of him?

Dare is pregnant? I never hear the good stuff. Maybe some pictures of her wedding would be nice, to catch me up!

Hi "Sally"... :) I think Jana just gave you away. ;) I would say you should make a trip to Lincoln Center and see the NYC Ballet perform! ... but maybe you aren't in to that sort of thing so, I'd recommend eating some NY pizza and bagels... they are to die for!!!

On the special features on "You've Got Mail" they have a little map and tour guide to NYC... you could look up some stuff there. I have wanted to go to NYC for sooooo long... I remember driving past it once, got to see Lady Liberty out in the harbor through binoculars. In the stopped traffic. Mid-day, no reason. Yeah, happy memories, those. :-)

I have friends in CT, and I hope to fly there someday, and train into NYC. Museums! That would be my suggestion. And of course you are already seeing a Broadway show...

Have a GREAT time!
