Greetings from 1985!

I'm alive. I'm well. I'm just stuck in 1985.

I've been visiting my sister at her IL's lake house. It's gorgeous -- great views of the lake from almost every window in the house. Decks off of all 3 stories of the house where we've eaten and chatted and played cards. But, we get no cell reception, and no internet service. Therefore, we are sitting in the public library, 45 minutes from the house, with our trusty laptops catching up on the world.

If the world is falling apart, we have no idea...we don't even get local TV stations. Of course, we do get, via satellite, every possible movie channel. We've watched All the Right Moves, Grease 2, Bev Hills 90210, Devil Wears Prada, Road to Glory. We've played Canasta and Cribbage. We've eaten yummy food and drank lots of decaf coffee (sis is preggers). Oh yeah, and let's not forget that we've slept in!

It's been heaven! And it all ends tomorrow. Bummer.

We've taken some fun pictures but I'll have to post them later b/c sis doesn't have her cord for the camera.

Sometimes it is nice to shut off the world and play a good game of Cribbage.

I learned to play Cribbage so that I could have a conversation with my grandfather. Dad taught me. Grandpa and I sat down, Cribbage in the middle, notepad and tape recorder on the side, and played and talked for almost two hours. I got a lot of family history that day, that I never would have known if I hadn't bothered to learn a game.

Cherish the time with your sister. I envy the view!

Sounds lovely, the trip and shutting off from the world.

I spent many many many hours in college playing cribbage and hanging out at a coffee house...before coffee houses were cool.

My sis and I had to read the directions though, because it had been so long since we played. It was really fun though...and she kicked my butt almost every time!
