Sally, I miss you!

No, I don't miss me. I miss my Saab, my convertible, my namesake (in other words, my real name isn't Sally - you all knew that, right?).

About 10 months ago, I drove my little Saab to the car lot and traded her in for a mama car, an SUV, The Pilot. And I love my Pilot, and it's PERFECT for my son. I can change him in the back of it and even be protected from the rain or whatever by the tailgate (or whatever you call it). All 3 of my strollers fit into it (you never know which one you'll want to use). I can reach the back seat from the driver's seat, and I can climb over INTO the backseat while The Colonel is driving to get to Lil Major. It's great...

But...

The top doesn't come off. And I was really ok with that until I got off work today. And it's 70 degrees. And sunny. And gorgeous. And I drove away like a mama nerd in my SUV with the windows rolled down and the radio cranked. Oh, woe is me!

And to add insult to injury...when I picked up my rental car last week to drive back to SoCal to fly home, the gal offered me a FREE upgrade to a convertible. In fact, she asked me to PLEASE take it. I've been offered a lot of free upgrades in my day (there was the time I got the Jaguar for free, and my boss thought it was so cool he asked me to drive him to our meeting...and then I forgot him at the hotel. Oops. And the time I got the free upgrade to the Land Rover in Houston), but never a convertible. And, I couldn't take it. I had to tell the girl, NO, I need a 4-door. Oi!

Add that to my 34th birthday yesterday, and I'm sounding pretty stinkin' old!

But, I have a beautiful son who I love with all my heart, so I guess it's worth it, huh?

Don't worry, you can get a convertible again....when lil major is all grown up. I'm waiting for my SL 500 convertible...I think it will be about 20 years. I hope we're not too old to enjoy it by then! :) They are worth it though, aren't they? Happy 5 month to lil major tomorrow!

happy birthday dearie! now look at me calling you dearie. i'm the one that sounds old! i lugged finn and calvin around in my silver jetta til ollie came around. i thought i was going to be so sad parting with her. but what would have been even more sad would be squishing 3 boys in the back, ya know? it would have been IMPOSSIBLE. i rather enjoy my new airplane/car--"you are free to roam about the cabin".

happy bday mamasita, life only gets better from here and you can get a convertible one day. I had to wait til just last year to get my "sports" car and I may have to give it up next year when my oldest starts driving (insurance - yikes!) but they'll be other days!

Totally worth it!

Happy Birthday, young one. Age well, you have.

I have only ridden in a convertible a few times. Was never terribly impressed. I don't like messy wind hair. Or that much random noise. I prefer stereo thumping, and A/C fully operational.

I would have thought you'd name a Mustang Sally. :-)

I need a name for the Tidewater Blue Honda Fit. Any ideas?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

And I"m sooooo jealous of the pilot. We wanted a Saturn Outlook or something like that when I was pregnant... but then we found out what the payments were. Ugh... no thank you!

Shell - got the text, thanks!!

Yes, I carry 3 strollers, well, usually just 2...but it's just so much easier to already have them in the car and just grab what I want.

I really do love my Pilot. I'm SO glad I got it. And we bought it used, so we got a great deal on it...and it's a Honda, so it should run forever!

And Chelf - I usually name my cars silly matching names like Cammy Camaro, Sally Saab...but I don't have a name for the Pilot yet. Oh yeah, and hats are a must in a convertible. I just LOVE feeling the air and wind and oh...I just love it!!

I had three convertibles bfore the girls came along... A Jeep Wrangler, a shiny red Mustang and then another Jeep... And now I have the Explorer. The first car we buy (paying cash, of course!) will be a convertible. Preferably hard top. :)

In other words, I know just how you feel!
