Ready Aim Fire

I did something yesterday that I had never done before. I put on my ear plugs and safety glasses like I was heading to the production floor at work...but I wasn't going to work (thank God!). I went to the shooting range with my hubby. Remember that gun he got for his birthday? Well, we got to try it out yesterday.

B has a friend from high school who did a little stint in the army in counter-intelligence (think -- hunting down and getting rid of terrorists), and he has an arsenal of weapons...so off we went to the range with our little 380 and we joined the "arsenal."

I don't ever remember shooting a gun with live rounds before. And man was it a rush! I wasn't all that great, but for my first time I think I did pretty good. Can you tell which of the targets below was mine and which was B's?

Yes, mine is on the left. At least I hit the 18" x 18" target at all! I had a little trouble with my aim. I would line everything up just right, and then once I pulled the trigger, I lost it. Or maybe I was yanking on the trigger too hard, and it was messing up my aim -- that's what B's friend said. Then his buddy let me shoot his 9mm. I did much better with that gun...but I definitely need some practice.

Oh, and don't even think about messing with my Marine husband...look at what he did with rapid fire from a 45...watch out!

I went with G once- I think I would have had more fun had I not been freezing to death!!!(It was an outdoor range & we went early in the morning around this time of year) Maybe we can all go together sometime... :-)

That would be fun! Tell G to bring his aresenal at Christmas. We'll go to the indoor range.

My dad has a hobby of guns. He is a pressman at a print shop by trade, so he prints his own targets.

I can take the neck off a beer bottle (our favorite cheap target, since they are free in the hills near my dad's house) at 100 yards. Well, that was 15 years ago. But, I can kick birdie booty on Duck Hunt, too, so I have practice.

my dad taught me how to shoot at a young age. I haven't in a quite a while but it does give you a rush. My dad has about 15 guns. My dad, brother and SIL all have CWP and carry on occasion. It's scary and sane all at the same time! Wonder what Major thought of all that commotion? :o)

Yeah! Chicks who can shoot rock! And it definitely wins you points in the "cool wife" category! Do you feel better about the gun being in the house now?

Sunshing - I don't think you have to worry...of course, I do tend to have pretty bad road rage. =)

Daisy - Yes, I feel better about them being in the house, but I want them to be locked up after the kid comes, and B wants it under the bed!

There is a safe that G has been looking at to keep a loaded gun under the bed, it has a sequenced push-button lock system that is supposed to be safe, but easy to get into in an emergency. He'll have to explain it better, but it does seem a lot safer than it just being out.

If your hubby wasn't a Marine, I would have guessed yours was on the right. Women are often better shots than men. There is some kind of biological reason for it, but I can't remember what it is.
