The Colonel's Dream

As we walked the dogs around the neighborhood last night, I brought up the name of soon-to-be-born child again. Of course, the Colonel gave me the same reply that he always gives me when I bring up this topic, "The decision has been made." And he says it in his most formal military voice.

I ignored his comment and started spouting off my latest list of names that are interesting to me.

And then, in either an effort to get me off the name topic, or just because he remembered he hadn't told me yet, The Colonel told me of a dream he had a couple nights ago.

He said, "I dreamed that I was holding the baby at home when he was about 2 days old. I was watching TV and he was taking a nap, when all of a sudden, he opened his eyes, looked up at me and said, 'What are you doing, Colonel?' Then I went to tell you what had happened, but you didn't believe me, and you told me to go away."

I had to stop walking because I was laughing so hard...and I was also trying very hard not to pee my pants.

Hmm, wonder what his dream means? It's kinda like the one I had a while back that my newborn starting running around talking.

Did he eat any garlic for dinner? Whenever I eat any garlic in my dinner, I have the craziest dreams. Be careful with all that laughing. Before long, you will literally pee your pants every time you cough. Did anyone tell you about that one?

Abbagirl - He probably ate frozen pizza for dinner...we have that a lot around here (I'm not quite the gourmet cook that you are!).

And I HAD heard about the coughing causing peeing, but I thought it wouldn't happen until AFTER the kid came out...but, oh no...I'm already experiencing issues when I sneeze or cough or laugh. great, just great.

Be afraid. Your child will be a genius, and how fast he learns to talk will probably shock you both.

I like that you didn't deny that you would have told him to go away. Says a lot about the fun you two have. You are both going to be great parents.

Chelf - I don't really think I would have told him to go away, but it was his dream...so you never know. =)

Thanks for saying we'll be great parents...we're going to try hard!
